TRANSLATION SERVICES
HUMAN TRANSLATION
Despite the recent advances in translation technology, there is no substitute for the human touch. I take a comprehensive approach to translation, performing research into the subject area and terminology and taking into account context, cultural nuance and the target audience to produce a sound translation. And as a bonus, I may even spot errors you missed in the source text.
MACHINE TRANSLATION POST-EDITING
If you need a translation fast or your content is not very specialised, it may be suitable for machine translation post-editing (MTPE). This process is different to normal translation editing, and my seven years of post-editing experience mean that I know the limitations of translation engines well and can fill in the gaps to produce the standard of translation you expect.
TRANSLATION EDITING
Already have a translation that just needs a second pair of eyes? I also offer editing services, checking existing translations against the original text for grammatical and terminological accuracy, and making relevant changes to language, tone and style according to the target audience and text type. If your text is a machine translation, this will require my machine translation post-editing service, which involves more extensive editing to bring the translation up to human standard.
LINGUISTIC SIGN-OFF
Once the translated text is in its final format, I can perform a final check to make sure all the formatting matches the original text, all the text has been translated and is visible in the final file. This is a key step if your text uses images and text boxes or has been translated using a CAT tool and contains a lot of formatting tags, such as PowerPoint presentations, brochures, posters and other marketing material.

ENGLISH EDITING
As an experienced translation editor, I can quickly spot mistakes that have slipped through the cracks and make changes to style and fluency to match your brand voice. This could be an academic text, blog post or brochure, or a text in one of my specialist areas.
COPYEDITING
Copyediting involves editing a text to make sure it matches the brief and is suitable for its target audience, as well as correcting any grammatical, spelling, punctuation or terminology errors. I also perform a general document check to make sure formatting styles are consistent, as well as basic fact-checking, research and checking for consistency with style guides.
PROOFREADING
Proofreading usually comes at the very end before publication or printing of your text. It includes basic spelling and grammar checks, along with checking the layout, formatting and headers and footers.
PLAIN LANGUAGE EDITING
Plain language editing focuses on making sure the language of your text is clear and easy for readers to understand. I also check that your document’s structure and layout are easy to follow.
